Weekly Weed News: San Diego Cracks Down on Medical Marijuana

While it seems the rest of the country is coming to grips with American's insatiable appetite for weed, it's use as medicine, and increasing decriminalization of the drug, San Diego law enforcement is taking upon itself to reverse the spin of the Earth on its axis:

"More than 30 people were arrested last week in San Diego on charges of illegally distributing marijuana — part of the city's crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries."

So, you may want to consider a vacation in Denver this fall...

Los Angeles - Stealing Our Water, Wasting It

Need another reason to hate Los Angeles? Here's what those people are doing with YOUR water:

"Torrents of water have been sweeping cars off streets and barbeques out of backyards as aging water pipes have been bursting at a rate of more than one a day in recent weeks."

Two states. We need two states. North and South. TWO STATES!

Huffington Post: " When Getting Beaten By Your Husband Is A Pre-Existing Condition"

I've steered fairly clear of the health care stuff, but this...

"It turns out that in eight states, plus the District of Columbia, getting beaten up by your spouse is a pre-existing condition."

Ugh. Just ugh.

400 Years of Looking Down a Long, Thin Pipe (at the stars)

Don't be bored. Go look through a telescope to celebrate its anniversary:

"In late August 1609, Galileo Galilei demonstrated his 8-power hand-built telescope to Venetian notables. (Note that the word "telescope" was actually coined in 1611, and that there were several terms such a "looker" used previously.) This won him a lifetime appointment to a university chair and raised his salary from 520 to 1000 florins per year. His built his first 3X telescope sometime in early 1609 after hearing about such "lookers" being built elsewhere in Europe."

Simply Put, The Smell of Death is Ancient

As long as animals have lived, they have died. And as long as animals have died, they have stunk. Livescience.com reports:

"Dead ants no longer smell like live ants, for example, and the result is they get carried out of the nest," found a study presented at the bacchanal otherwise known as an American Chemical Society meeting.

Hungover interns used needles to extract juice from dead cockroaches. The least you can do is check out the findings.
